Is the barrel you're ordering "in the white" (unfinished)?

If it is, I can strongly recommend KG Gun Kote, or Norrells' Moly, or Brownells Gun Kote if you want to do it in aerosol instead of airbrush.

Brownells also has a newer alternative that I haven't tried that contains Teflon added to it as well, but I haven't had the opportunity to try that version yet.

Moly resists heat in excess of 1,000* easily, is abrasion resistant, and doesn't darken with a lot of heat like Duracoat has for me in the past on barrels.

It's good enough that I've been using it on my form 1 suppressors, and H&K has been using it on their SOCOM suppressors too according to Norrells website.

If you don't run it hot, duracoat would probably be OK if you wanted to refinish it with it, BUT Moly is better altogether in my humble opinion.

Moly Aerosol:

Teflon/Moly Aerosol

Or for a temporary and less expensive alternative to make the barrel nonreflective black:

Cloth Insulating tape
http://www.kvconnection.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=T-P665-2-BK&click=4099

But I don't know what you'll have to do to the crown to tone it down with the cloth electrical tape if it isn't threaded for a flash hider.

Plastic black electrical tape is somewhat shiny and not what I'm talkin' about. I'm talking about cloth tape.

John, thank you for that info! It says it's a 416R SS barrel. This is the upper; http://www.model1sales.com/item-detail.cfm?ID=UV2000&storeid=1&image=uvarm20.gif&CFID=58522930&CFTOKEN=98154073 but it will have a different handguard.

That is a sweet looking rifle GM! How does she shoot?

Haha, ok. Well I'm hoping to give my LWRC carbine or my CD Field Hunter some action tomorrow coyote hunting. Those are my best options until my varmint upper is complete. I sold my Weatherby to help fund it...

It came today!

This 20" upper is from Model1Sales.com
It has a 1/8 twist SS bull barrel, YHM smooth free float handguard, chrome bolt and carrier and ext latch charging handle.

Fit and finish is excellent. I can't wait to get my scope and try it out!

Thanks GM. I've been unenjoyed for the last 10 months so getting this together took some wheeling and dealing. I still have about 6 or 7 hundred more I'd like to put into the lower and scope. Scope is next though!
I was looking at a Nikon 3-9x50 for ~$200. Decent choice?

I like it Packer.

Are you going to spray the barrel? Or the whole gun? Or ?

If you spray the barrel, if you cut one of those foam earplugs in half (longways) and roll it up and stick it in the muzzle, you won't get any overspray in the bore Wink
